Context
Future Start is an independent financial advice service specialising in care funding and later-life financial planning. The project involved designing a series of informational brochures covering complex subjects including lifetime annuities, paying for care, and long-term financial planning. The materials needed to communicate detailed, sensitive information in a way that felt clear and reassuring, without losing the professional tone that a financial services audience expects.
Approach
Working from Future Start's existing brand elements, including their logo and typography, I developed a flexible visual direction that put readability first. The layouts used strong hierarchy, structured sections, and carefully paced content to help guide readers through technically dense material without feeling overwhelmed. Callouts, visual spacing, and supporting graphic elements broke information into manageable parts, while typography, colour, and a consistent layout system made it easy to navigate and identify key information at a glance. The overall aesthetic aimed to balance professionalism with warmth, so the materials felt genuinely helpful rather than corporate or intimidating.
Impact
The final brochures provided Future Start with a cohesive set of communication materials that translated complex financial and care-funding topics into accessible, reader-friendly resources. By combining clarity, structure, and approachable design, the publications helped support informed decision-making while reinforcing Future Start’s expertise and supportive client-focused approach.
