The Biannual Issue
A self-published magazine documenting life, work, and creative practice.
The Biannual Issue is an ongoing self-publishing project, a magazine produced twice a year that documents a defined period of creative life. Each issue covers six months, gathering projects, studio experiments, cultural encounters, and quieter observations into a single designed object. Rather than being driven by theme or concept, each edition is shaped entirely by time, marked simply by the months it contains.
The project began as a way of noticing. Creative growth rarely feels dramatic in the moment, and the magazine became a method for making it visible, a space where major work sits alongside small experiments, films watched, books read, and references collected. Assembly is part of the practice. Selection, sequencing, and pacing become design tools, and the act of editing six months of accumulation is as considered as the work being documented.
Each issue runs between 60 and 72 pages and is printed. The commitment to print is deliberate, slowing reflection and giving each period a sense of completion and form. As the issues accumulate they become a physical archive, a steady record of sustained curiosity that reveals not just what was made, but how thinking and sensibility develop over time.
